In 2007, The Acadiana Humane Society and Sue Rabeaux’s Cat Ranch merged under the umbrella of the Acadiana Humane Society, which is a 501c3 organization. All donations are tax deductible. Since then, they have relied solely on adoption fees, donations, fundraisers, grants, the generosity of community supporters and organizations such as the Krewe Des Chienes and PetsMart Charities. Although they believe in the objectives of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, they receive no funding from either the ASPCA or the National Humane Society.
The Rabeaux family, along with a group of dedicated volunteers, are currently supporting over 80 cats and kittens, as well as a variety of dogs, puppies, and other domestic pets. They need our help.
The Acadiana Humane Society is also in the process of building a hurricane shelter for the cats. To see how that is coming along, with links, photos, and a list of needs, visit the Hurricane Shelter website.

Be a Guardian Angel for a Special Needs Animal
Become an financial Guardian Angel for one of their Special Needs Pets. Many of the animals rescued by the Acadiana Humane Society have medical problems due to abuse or neglect inflicted by their previous owners. They are committed to saving those animals that are expected to make a full recovery and are otherwise adoptable. Other animals in the care of the Acadiana Humane Society have health issues that necessitate special care or special medications. Sponsorship by their own human Guardian Angel insures that special needs pets are cared for until they are recovered or until suitable placement is found for them.
Make a Donation “In Memory of…” Pets or People
You can make a donation in memory of your beloved pet or pet(s) that have passed on to the Rainbow Bridge. Your pet will then be immortalized on the Little Wings Memorial Wall. The Acadiana Humane Society also accepts donations in honor of human dog or cat lovers who have passed on.
