About La Belle Arnaudville
La Belle Arnaudville is an online magazine for the people who are blessed to live and work in the Arnaudville area, and especially for those who are just now discovering this unique area as a possible destination for retirement, starting a new business, or building a new home for their family. It is our goal for La Belle Arnaudville to continue to develop as the premier resource for those who prefer to explore all of the Arnaudville area, and its special culture, beyond what most tourist websites and guidebooks usually recommend.
La Belle Arnaudville covers practical subjects, such as demographics and cost of living in the towns that have joined together to make up this unique area. We publish local color stories that reveal the variety of lifestyle choices available to those who are considering moving here. We interview folks who have lived here forever, as well as recent arrivals, to discover how they all make a success of living here. …and, of course, we also research local services and offer insight into the common problems people face while adapting to a new culture, which – we might add – includes a new language and some of the best non-stop food and music in the world!
…and did I tell you about hunting, fishing and LSU football? Well – La Belle Arnaudville is the place for the latest on all of those topics as well!
As our readership continues to grow, your feedback will help La Belle Arnaudville publish articles of specific interest to both the people who live here and the growing number of people who are choosing to visit and move here. We welcome your comments and invite you to offer suggestions for topics of interest to you.
Meet The La Belle Arnaudville Team
Carol “Khaki” Scott:
Khaki, a native of Central Louisiana, first fell in love with this area when attending college in Lafayette. After earning a B.S. in Mathematics, she attended grad school at LSU, then taught school and operated a thriving math and chemistry tutoring program of her own. Today, she writes about the State of Yucatan for Yucatan Living, Yolisto, and Mexico Real Estate Investment.
In early 2008, on her way back to Yucatan, Khaki took on what was to be a short project in Arnaudville. The project kept her here for an entire year! She had already fallen in love with Merida, Yucatan, the Cultural Capital of the North American Continent for the year 2000 but, amazingly, she discovered a mini-Merida right here at home – in Arnaudville! Now, she has decided to divide her time between the two cultural centers and believes she is the luckiest person in the world!
Jim Fusilier
Jim is a life-long resident of Opelousas. He hunts duck and deer, and fishes sac-au-lait (white perch). He is also an avid LSU Football fan. Jim is La Belle Arnaudville’s resident expert in all of those areas and more! He is both funny and well informed. La Belle Arnaudville thinks that whatever he is interested in at the moment is the finest idea we have ever heard… and it usually is! Jim has a deep love of hunting and fishing and a sense of reverence about him when speaking of their growth and future. He is one of the most knowledgeable sportsmen we know, so we are certain his fans will always come back for more. If you have any questions for Jim or comments on his articles, you are welcome to post in the comments and/or to e-mail Jim at labellearnaudville[at]yahoo[dot]com
